They Arrived!

Look what FINALLY came in the post! After a stock issue with the original ones, I finally received an agreed-upon alternative, with a handwritten note from the owner. How cute is this?

My new favourite store...

Oh I am in love. I have been saving, literally, to purchase an Eberjey PJ set. I wanted this Eberjey Gisele in Stripes. However, $160+ is really just TOO much for PJs period. But, low and behold, I found a site byLangley that is having a 25% off sale today, on top of the already low sale price. I snapped them up! So excited for new PJs. SO EXCITED.

Check out byLangley!

Look what came in the post?

I love Jewish Girl in a WASPs Clothing and she posted about scarves the other day, particular Love Quotes,  so I decided to look up the brand- and it came from an alumna of Columbia's Teachers College. I simply had to have not just one, but two! I recently sold my wool scarf collection (mainly paisley scarfs that I no longer loved), and these are perfect neutrals for me. Perfect.

So excited to break these out!

Time-tested and true...

I love beauty product posts. Love. However, I have started to find that the more I read, the more I buy. Sure, it is fun to try new products, but this method is so not budget-friendly. At all. I am learning to stick to the basics...and mine are:

Oh, how I shall miss thee...

For the last year, I have lived in the Pacific Northwest. I hated it, initially (just like I disliked NYC the first 6 months, or how I loathed Philly until I left---and the reminisced daily). Now, as I have a mere 6 weeks left, I nearly cry each time I look out my windows to the beautiful lake---and snow-capped mountains and glaciers, or how the ugly Space Needle has grown on me. Spring just hit, and so the name "Emerald City" really makes sense- for the first time, since being here.

I know I will adjust wherever I go, but I thoroughly believe that no part of the country is as beautiful- and that I shall never have a better view out my windows--and that just makes me sad.

I am headed towards the Biltmore area of Phoenix (eek, talk about hot), and while my new building (literally, it is still being built) is across the street from the Ritz, Cartier, Saks and J.Crew, I somehow feel it will not be up to par.

Physically, the apartment rocks compared to my current one. At a pathetic 525sf, our current one bedroom is also new as we are the first to live here- but with my clothes, and my husband, it just is too small. We pay, mind you, $2050. Our NEW apartment will be 750 (I know, still small) but is about $1500---and has similar features like hardwood, granite and all.

225sf. DO YOU KNOW HOW EXCITED I AM? It also has a small walk-in closet. Heaven on earth.

So lets see if I can try and let go of this view...and embrace the lack of one. And be thankful I am not moving to NYC or Philly.

The Daily Clean On...

Ugh! It seems like it is a never ending battle, the battle to keep my apartment clean. Some girls on other blogs make it look effortless, I am not one such blogger. Every day it seems I sweep, swiffer, launder, and nearly cry. there has to be a better alternative that doesn't involve paying for someone to help.

I am starting to think if it were a nightly ritual, like cleaning- then a rewarding bath/book and bed?

Something has to change to help me get my clean on, just not sure what...

Fewer, better clothes...

I have heard the notion life is simpler, calmer, easier when you own fewer clothing pieces. In fact, there are a number of blog posts by others on the topic.

How to Downsize Your Wardrobe with Common Sense

The Simply Luxurious Life: Why Not...Create Your Own Style

I have spent days researching this, and even started listing (and selling happily) lots of clothing items on EBay. Some items I have owned for 5 years, and they STILL have their tags on them. TAGS! I am mortified. I always lust over Lanvin flats (approx $500), Louis Vuitton Suhali handbags (pre-owned $1500-2000), Burberry trenches (approx $500)...and yet, I do not own them. Instead, I slowly spent the same amount of money, on less expensive J.Crew sale items or Nordstrom Rack purchases. Why? I fall victim to sales. I assume that a sale is a good thing, when in fact, it isn't.

My favourite shoes were full prices ($525) Lanvin patent flats. Sure, that is a CRAZY amount for shoes, but since November, I have worn them into the ground. Daily wear. They still look great though- aside from a small scuff on the patent heel. In five months, roughly 150 days. That is about $3 a day to wear high-end French flats that fit perfect. What I used to do, was buy 3-4 J.Crew ballet flats, on sale (plus there pushy 30% additional off Final Sale), for the same amount. They look less well-made. They don't fit right. They just, they are not Lanvin.

Handbags are another issue. Some friends were lovely Chanel Jumbo Flap Caviar bags. Classic, timeless and also $3-4,000. Instead, I have dozens of bags...none I even wear (I stick to a black Longchamp tote). I would LOVE a Chanel bag. I would die for a LV Suhali. If I looked closely, online, I am sure I could find one for about $1500---but yet I don't. I buy a ton of less loved things.

Times are changing.

I am prepping for a move, listing left and right, and determined to own less, but much better clothes. And perhaps splurge on another Lanvin pair ;)

I am still here...

I guess that is the best way to describe the last...year? I have been extremely poor at posting, and it isn't as if I had a stressful job, or anything to complicate my life to warrant it. I just, I just dropped the ball. But, I am still here.

I have been living in Seattle, and must admit I fell into a bit of a rut with the weather. Sure, Seattle is BEAUTIFUL 2-3 months of the year, but for a born and raised Californian, the lack of sun has taken its toll. To start, I gained over 40 pounds. I am pale as a pearl. I rarely get fresh air (the rain, and gloom, keep me indoors). However, I am moving to sunny Arizona in a few months and my mood has already picked up.

I hope to document the next few months (and the move), so expect posts :) For now, here are some of our apartment in Seattle. We have a view of Lake Union, and a peak of the Cascades as well as a peak of the Space Needle. Yes, swanky, I know ;)
