"I have a great deal of faith in faith"
He was my first movie-star crush. Each of us has one. And while there are many great actors whom I have really loved over the course of my lifetime, including other noble men like Gregory Peck, Patrick Swayze was the first...and my favorite.
He wasn't the most talented, nor the best looking. He wasn't tall. He wasn't brilliant. But just like the characters he often portrayed, he was honorable, decent, human, in the somewhat tainted world of Hollywood. As I admired his character Johnny from my first favorite non-animated film, I admired him in real-life as well, which means a good deal more.

It is unfortunate, devastating really, that so many people die from such a wasteful disease such as cancer. Having lost many other great people in my life to it, especially my beloved Baba, and more recently my friend Pa, we really need to do whatever we can to support causes that work to eradicate the disease. Because I refuse to continue to watch many good and young people die, even if there is a life after, so early...
Tonight in honor of him and the many others, I urge you to Stand Up to Cancer

On a More Upbeat Note...
I have been so excited about the second Sex and the City Movie that I have been trying to follow it (and of course, the upcoming fashion trends that are bound to take off with the magic of the movie and the style of Pat Fields!).
I found a fantastic site that I thought I would share! It even includes information on the specific items worn on-set so far (fitting for Fashion Week, right?!)

I remember when...
8 years ago today, I watched on the t.v. and then heard on the radio about a horrible event taking place in NYC and in Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania. It was an awful day, that I will never forget, a day that shaped my life. I learned of humanism, courage, compassion.
And I didn't know then, that someday, only a few years away, I would call some of those places home...
In honor of brave men and women who lost their lives that morning, and in honor of the brave men and women who fought to save the lives of others, I remember you today, and everyday.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

My new goal for the blog is to at least post once a week. I was better earlier but the big news is that..............
I AM STUDYING FOR THE GRE!
After December 12th, I expect all to return to normal again :)

Labor Day Weekend Update!
Sorry for the late update---
Friday: Jimmy Kimmel Show (VIP and Green Room) for Gerard Butler. 2nd row, and if you watch the show, you can see me! Then our friend, one of the producers, took us to the backstage of the concert for The Used! Only bummer? I decided to sit in the audience and missed Gerard Butler drinking in the green room with all of the VIP guests and staff (sad, sad, sad!). However, I learned I love Jimmy Kimmel, and Gerard Butler is NOT as hot as he looks on TV. We finished the night off at the Roosevelt Hotel and a dinner at 25 degrees! Yummy! Then, after a few drinks (both in the green room and at the restaurant) I decided for the first time to actually look at the stars on Hollywood Blvd.
Saturday: UCLA Football Game! WE WON!!!!
Sunday: Finished decorating my office for the time I am there---
Today: Studying for the GRE for possible doctoral programs :)

Random Tuesday Night Ponder.....
“Are there some women put in the world just to make you feel bad about yourself?”-SATC
There are all kinds of people out there who can make you feel that way, bad about yourself. If you listened to them, and cared, you might (or I might) possibly never get out of bed. Whether it is as work (where a complicated co-workers sometimes snide remarks make me cringe) or at South Coast Plaza or Rodeo (where beautiful, stylish girls walk nearly 6" tall with their Christian Louboutin and noses that reach for the air) I ponder the question from my beloved Sex and the City.
Hopefully I can start to focus more on my positives (and the positives that surround me) and less on these issues, after all today was relatively nice! I enjoyed a fantastic lunch with my favorite former boss at the University Club, started packing offices for a move (hey, I haven't been laid off yet!) and enjoyed an evening swim with Mike and my parents at our place...
